LEGISLATIVE DUTIES AND CAPITAL PROJECTS

LEGISLATIVE DUTIES AND CAPITAL PROJECTS:
By: Mohammed Nanoh Bello

The problem seems very combersome for many Nigerians to delineat the boundaries between Legislature, Executive and Judicature, the top squabble during this sallah fiesta on the social medias like; facebook, twitter, whatsApp etc focused on the legislature to emback on capital projects (e.g Road construction, Electrification etc) which by virture of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria lack powers to execute any capital project and still the writers are unambiguously pointing their accusing fingers on the Kebbi South constitencies where we have people like;
Sen. Bala Ibn NaAllah (Kebbi South )
Hon. Aliyu Danladi (Zuru Emirate)
Hon Abubakar Ibrahim Bokolo (State House, Fakai)
Hon. Hamza ND Bello (State house, Danko/Wasagu west)
Hon. Haliru Aliyu Wasagu (State House, Danko/Wasagu East)
Hon. Sani Kaida (State House, Zuru)
Hon. Maikasu M. Maje (State House, Sakaba)
Despite the fact, PMB is 100days in office fullfilling campaign promises, fixing economy ruined by PDP government, fighting corruption to a holt, Boko haram in the North east, Militancy in the Niger Delta, Kidnapping all over the country, fixing back the existing refinaries, Agricultural transformation and Sustainable Development Goals. Coupled with the biggest task faced by our country’s economy. The existing oil revenue have brought enomous devasitating effect to our dear economy and greatly limited the official functions of the executive at numerious level to meet even essential obligations. I think, it is unfair, unpatriotic, out of point and not justifiable to start sending missiles and threats to lawmakers on the capital projects (e.g Road Construction) which is not their primary objectives constitutionally. However, it is conventionally good to make an appeal to the President/Governor or contitutionally right to sponsor a bill on capital project  with regards to ones contituency.
The duties of a legislator therefore, as stated in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;
 “the legislative powers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, shall be vested in the National Assembly (Senate and House of representative) which shall have powers to make laws for the peace, order and good Government of the federation
Legislator therfore; is someone who creates or enact laws, especially a member of a legislative body (Lawmaker)
Having critically studied the entire scenario, Dr Idris Ahmed of (CUPS) and Abubakar Meli are the principal actors, I therefore, feel very important to ask Dr Idris Ahmed the following question; Sequel to your Facebook posting/updates agitating for recall of Sen Bala IBN NaAllah, barely 4 months into the National assembly, Iam finding it very hard to append my signature or to convince those we share common ideology to do so or to even go extra mile in trying to spread your gospel, with Sen. Bala IBN NaAllah threatening to go to court for defamation of character, please can you kindly give explicitly convincing reasons for his recall so that we (the youths) can help you achieve your aim, you may even organize a seminar to the youths in Kebbi south where Sen. Bala is representing them instead of remotely expressing your interest as a concerned citizen!!
Thank you and God bless Nigeria
